Dampak Overtourism terhadap Aspek Lingkungan, Ekonomi, dan Sosial Budaya di Kawasan Malioboro, Yogyakarta
Abstract
This study aims to analyze local community perceptions of the impacts of overtourism in the Malioboro area of Yogyakarta, focusing on three main aspects: environmental, economic, and socio-cultural. Overtourism in this area is characterized by a surge in tourist numbers exceeding the region’s carrying capacity, leading to various issues such as traffic congestion, pollution, changes in land use, and increased cost of living, all of which directly affect the quality of life for local residents. The study employs a quantitative method with a descriptive approach by distributing questionnaires to 85 respondents who have lived and worked in the Malioboro area for a minimum of five years. The results show that the local community perceives significant negative impacts on environmental and socio-cultural aspects, including the deterioration of cleanliness and disruption of local values due to tourist dominance. However, in the economic aspect, most respondents acknowledge certain benefits such as increased income and employment opportunities, although accompanied by pressures on the cost of goods and housing. This research recommends the implementation of sustainable tourism management strategies and active community involvement in policy formulation to mitigate the negative effects of overtourism in the Malioboro area.
