Abstract

This Community Service activity was motivated by the low level of financial literacy and basic bookkeeping skills among students of SMPN 1 Terbuka Diponegoro, South Tangerang, even though many of them are already involved or have the potential to be involved in family economic activities and small businesses. The aim of this program is to empower participants through training in basic accounting skills and relevant counseling, enabling them to prepare ledgers, trial balances, and simple worksheets, which are ultimately expected to support the gradual improvement of family income and quality of life. The implementation method includes planning, socialization, as well as training and practical simulation using a learning-by-doing approach, beginning with a pre-test and ending with a post-test to measure the program’s effectiveness. The results show a significant increase in participants’ knowledge and skills across all competency indicators, accompanied by active participation and high enthusiasm throughout the training process. Overall, this activity has proven effective in strengthening students’ basic financial literacy and building foundational bookkeeping skills that can be applied in managing personal, family, and small business finances in their surrounding environment.
