Abstract
Individuals with autism require educational programs that life skills and vocational skills that can support their independence in the future. One relevant skill is food processing combined with knowledge of food hygiene and sanitation. This Community Service Program (PKM) aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of autistic students, parents, and accompanying teachers through fun pastry and hygiene sanitation training at Rumah Autis Depok. The program was conducted on January 14, 2026, involving 30 participants consisting of 10 autistic students, 10 parents, and 10 school principals and accompanying teachers. The methods employed included lectures, demonstrations, hands-on practice (learning by doing), mentoring, and evaluation through pre-tests and post-tests. The results demonstrated an improvement in participants’ understanding of hygiene, sanitation, and food safety, as indicated by an increase in the average score from 58.4% in the pre-test to 89.0% in the post-test. Furthermore, participants were able to identify pastry-making equipment and ingredients and independently practice the preparation of simple pastry products. Participant satisfaction was also categorized as very high. The program proved effective in enhancing vocational skills, creativity, and independence among autistic students through an interactive and enjoyable learning approach. Therefore, similar programs should be implemented continuously to support the empowerment and self-reliance of individuals with autism.
